Gift honours Crown Princess in 40th birthday year

To mark the 40th birthday of HRH Crown Princess Victoria, the Friends of Nationalmuseum have presented the National Portrait Collection at Gripsholm Castle with a photographic portrait by Thron Ullberg depicting the princess in one of her favourite settings, the Gustav III Pavilion at Haga.

Nationalmuseum presents a new aspect of Dawid’s art at Gripsholm this summer

Men, an exhibition of 49 photographic portraits by Dawid, opens at Gripsholm Castle on 20 May 2017. Most of the portraits are being exhibited for the first time. Dawid is not known for his portraits. Now, with the first full-scale exhibition of these works, visitors have the opportunity to discover a previously unknown aspect of his art.

New portrait of Carl Bildt featured in Gripsholm Castle exhibition

On 14 June, the Crossing Borders exhibition opens at Gripsholm Castle, featuring portraits of Swedes who have pursued their career or made their name outside of Sweden. The exhibition is also on show at Stockholm Arlanda Airport during the spring and summer. A new addition to the exhibits at Gripsholm will be Sanna Sjöswärd’s recent portrait of Carl Bildt.

Gripsholm Castle reopens on Thursday 15 May and will be open daily from 10am to 4pm until 30 September. Guided tours of the castle in Swedish and English will be available daily. From 14 June visitors can enjoy Music at Gripsholm, a series of concerts.

From Tuesday 15 May until the end of summer, Gripsholm Castle will be open daily from 10 am – 4 pm. The castle, which is celebrating its 475th anniversary, offers something for everyone – from a floor dedicated to a princess, an 18th-century theatre, an armoury and a prison tower to one of the world’s biggest portrait collections. This year the family tours will start at 1 pm.
