European Silver 1500-1850

European Silver 1500-1850 is the second volume in the series of catalogues of the Nationalmuseum’s extensive collections of applied art, design and industrial design. The catalogue presents the museum’s collections of European silver from 1500 to 1850, extensively illustrated with photographs of the works, including details and stamps. It offers identification, provenance, exhibition history and bibliographical references of the objects, as well as previously unpublished information on the numismatic material used in the decoration of some of the objects. The first volume, Swedish Silver 1500-1850, from 2009 has become something of a bestseller within its genre and was that year selected by Swedish Book Art as one of 25 books produced in exemplary fashion to serve as models for emulation. A CD with both the catalogues Swedish Silver 1500-1850 and European Silver 1500-1850 in pdf format is included in this edition.
